Myanmar is home to one of the world’s oldest oil and gas industries, with oil exploration in Myanmar beginning in the Bagan era (AD 849 – 1297). With the nationalization of the oil industry in 1963, the newly formed state oil company, Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), assumed all operations of the industry. In 1988, in an effort to revive the struggling industry, the government opened it to foreign firms.

Myanmar’s proven natural gas reserves are about 1,820 billion cubic feet and its crude oil reserves are estimated to surpass 139 million barrels. Myanmar, now open to international exploration, major firms are making substantial investments in the country, using updated technology to discover new deposits.

Being a sector with great potential to contribute to the country’s development, in recent years Myanmar’s oil and gas industry has made great strides towards providing a reliable energy supply for its domestic consumer base.

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသည် ကမ္ဘာ့ရှေးအကျဆုံး ရေနံနှင်.သဘာဝဓတ်ငွေ့လုပ်ငန်း လုပ်ကိုင်ခဲ့ရာနိုင်ငံဖြစ်သည်။ ရေနံရှာဖွေမှု လုပ်ငန်းကို ပုဂံခေတ် (၈၄၉-၁၂၉၇ ခရစ်နှစ်အေဒီ) ကတဲက စတင်လုပ်ကိုင်ခဲ့သည်။ ရေနံလုပ်ငန်းကို ၁၉၆၃ ခုနှစ်တွင် ပြည်သူပိုင်သိမ်းခဲ့ပြီးနောက် ပြည်သူပိုင်ရေနံကုမ္ပဏီဖြစ်သော မြန်မာ့ရေနံနှင်.သဘာဝဓတ်ငွေ့လုပ်ငန်း (MOGE) ကိုဖွဲ့စည်းပြီး ရေနံနှင်.သဘာဝဓတ်ငွေ့လုပ်ငန်းကို လုပ်ကိုင်ခဲ့သည်။ အခက်အခဲကြားမှရုန်းကန်နေရသော ရေနံသဘာဝဓတ်ငွေ့လုပ်ငန်းကို အသက်ဆက်နိုင်ရန် အစိုးရက နိုင်ငံခြားရေနံကုမ္ပဏီများကို ၁၉၈၈ ခုနှစ်တွင် လုပ်ကိုင်ခွင်.ပြုခဲ့သည်။

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၏တွေ့ရှိပြီး သဘာဝဓတ်ငွေ့သိုက်ပမာဏမှာ ၁,၈၂၀ ဘီလီယံကုဗပေ ရှိပြီး ရေနံစိမ်းသိုက်ပမာဏမှာ ခန်းမှန်းခြေ စည်ပေါင်း ၁၃၉ သန်း ကျော်ရှိသည်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသည် ယခုအခါ ရေနံရှာဖွေရေးလုပ်ငန်းကို ပြည်ပနိုင်ငံတကာကုမ္ပဏီများသို့ လုပ်ကိုင်ခွင်.ပေးထားပြီး ယခုအခါ ကမ္ဘာ့နာမည်ကြီး ရေနံကုမ္ပဏီများက ငွေကြေးအမြောက်အမြား ရင်းနှီးမြှုပ်နှံ၍ ခေတ်မီနည်းပညာများအသုံးပြုကာ ရေနံနှင်.သဘာဝဓတ်ငွေ့တွင်းသစ်များ ရှာဖွေလျက်ရှိကြသည်။
