Fairs and festivals in Myanmar often revolve around the Buddhist and Lunar calendars.

The Ananda Pagoda festival in January is one of the most famous pagoda festivals in the historic region of Bagan. Meanwhile, Paung Daw Oo Pagoda located in Inle Lake is famous for its five Buddha images. During this festival in October, four of the Buddha images are taken around the lake on a Karaweik royal barge, tugged by leg rowed boats. Leg-rowing boat races are held throughout the festival.
